Right I am enjoying music production enough to warrant a bit of a spend now :)

I currently have the same soundcard my computer came with and I am assuming it's not as good as it should be, can anyone help with what I should be looking for or make any suggestions (PC Compatible).

I am also looking at getting some studio monitors, a good hardcore lead synth and a good bleep-e synth.

I will spend what I have to to get stuff that is good quality, all help much appreciated.

I also have a M-Audio delta 66, really good card. You should look at the M-Auido 24/96, Good card and cheep now. It has stereo in out and is only about £60/£70.

It all just depends on what you want to put to use. If you have any hardware synths, you need a good soundcard. If not, it's not really that important except for monitors if you don't have RCA out on your card.

Anyone know any sites giving you the basics on soundcards, gota do a project on them, and would like a basic understanding before being thrown in at the deep end.

Cheers

Sorry, can't advise on soundcards as we use Macs and the standard card is more than good enough.

Monitors, Tannoy Actives. Some may disagree but we've caned them mercylessly and they're good.

monitors:
Behringer B2031A hands down
250-350$ US depending where you buy them
best value you'll find

super flat frequency response and top notch build quality and power

I never liked any other behringer product but they hit a home run on these
I know alot of 'pro' producers that use them in their home studio because of the price/quality ratio

the M-Audio 8" ones are good too

Cheers for all the advice on this guys. I have no hardware synths at the moment probably will look into it but not till I get the hang of using software first.
