well, the size of the site has stayed relatively the same, but I'm guessing you mean how popular it was???

It used to be pretty popular, and it was one of, if not, the main source for all the news and gossip on the UK hardcore community. Now with the existence of twitter and especially facebook, it's definitely dead compared to both of those outlets.

But I will say that I think some of the best critical thinking about the scene is definitely here. Have you seen some of the grammar being used on Gammer or Mark Breeze's posts on facebook? It looks like a clusterfuck of nonsense.

Only been here a couple of years and it's been fairly quiet the whole time. As latinxtc says that's down to fb and twitter. Forums in general are nowhere near as popular as they were 10 years ago for the same reason, so it's not just this place. Ush.net used to be a really popular UK Hardcore forum, probably moreso than this place although I could be wrong. Anyway it started dieing down with the growing popularity of Facebook and was left with a core of arseholes, eventually being shut down.

I always had this site down as second to USH which was very popular. I think technology has sadly left forums behind a bit

happyhardcore is a easier name to remember than ush :P
I never heard of ush until after I came here, as it's not as direct with it's title.

I don't think social networking has ruined forums as such but like all things fashions change from time to time. These days a lot of promoters promote themselves on sites like Soundcloud or Facebook so less need to come over here. Back around 10 years ago it was all about Bonkers and talk was always about what the next Bonkers will be like, the track lists, art work ect. I think now it is other albums supporting other artists have changed the nature of the forums

Yeah, of course social networks have destroyed forums, it's bloody obvious!
I remember on forums like USH (the greatest hardcore forum there ever was), if a well known DJ came on and posted something, it was unusual and a talking point in itself, they seemed untouchable and hard to contact. Now people can directly be in touch with virtually every DJ and producer going on Facebook, where they can get news and updates straight from the horses mouth. Promoters would go on the forums every now and then when a big event was coming up. Why bother now, when they can go on Facebook and invite every raver in the entire cosmos at the press of a button?
Gradually over time the majority of folk left over were the ones using the waffle/general discussion type boards as well as the music ones, whilst the guys pretty much exclusively in the music only sections simply didn't need the forums anymore, everything they needed or anyone they wanted to listen to was on Facebook, it was too convenient.
I wish it was different, I love busy forums.

It's true that Social Media and direct marketing possibilities these days have had their advantages during the past half of this decade, but the ugly face of this development already showed up it's true face and leaves all of us standing totally naked in front of the whole wide world.
If you're simply just looking for a quick confirmation of your own self-produced ego, social media are just the place you have to stay focused to. Only people that stick their heads up so far in your arse that they are already able to look at the white back side of your teeth will follow you and praise every fart that leaves your body as god's personal smell and shitstorm all kind of criticism.
I deny that this is what all true lovers of this genre are thinking of, but I am not able to doubt that I personally might have probably developed a way too "romantic" point of view about this music during the past years.

At the end, I think this forum still is the best place to be able to dig up all honest thoughts about music and ideas no matter how harsh the criticism seems to be. This community is visited by a true bunch of followers filled with a passion for rave. At least this is how I have been thinking about the majority of participants in this forum since I gladly joined it.

EDIT: I'm sorry for all these many edits, but I have tried to erase as much of mistakes as possible. My main message remains the same!

I like it here, less hurried, more time to use the English language in it's fullest capacity.

Space to explain and expand ideas, to actually discuss ones' thoughts in a controlled and measured fashion.

To waffle on in an effusive and self indulgent manner in the certainty that those who have the mental fortitude to read more than just one short line of text,
rather than becoming bored due to their failing mental abilities that have resulted from the 'easy come easy go' nature of sites such as Facebook
and it's bastard lazy text-speak spelling, will appreciate the subtleties and delicate perceptions of like minded aficionados of Hardcore.

To respond in equal measure to comments or critique with erudition and civility, rather than banal, puerile or offensive invective.

....and it's a nice restful blue colour.

*edit*

oh yeh and it was a lot of fun back then with some real characters both good and bad.

I think I can feel a song coming on....

....and people used to post silly pictures and stuff, just for the sake of a bit of amusement -

Welcome to the today's government of the Minimalistic Generation and their conception of how Rave Music should sound!
