Thing is, genreing wasn't that much of an issue back then
we were all just happy with hardcore :P
fair enough happy hardcore and freeform (although people were coining "Trancecore" for the stompin' choonz/nu energy stuffs) point is there wouldn't really be many genres anyway
maybe three at the most, which makes it pretty pointless, especially when labels weren't sticking within boundries of genre :)

I'll try and field some of the points raised this evening.
1) Sound quality - I would rather have the best possible sound quality but I know this wont always be the case so the best you can get is fine. If it's really bad then we'll have to see what we can do about it.
2) Links to buy the tracks - This is a pain in the arse for each track uploaded but if people want to do that then it's fine by me. On a similar note links to illegal downloads would be taken down and the user warned. For now I will probably just make a page of links to places to buy hardcore.
3) Genre's - Not going to happen. Like I explained earlier and for the reason Rowan pointed out (took the words out of my mouth) "Thing is, genreing wasn't that much of an issue back then we were all just happy with hardcore". Simple and causes less arguing in the long run.
4) Newer tracks - Kind of takes away the idea of having a '90's archive (which is what the site would be about) but it would be a good idea in the future.
5) Linking to youtube - Linking to YT is just one way to upload videos. I would like them to be uploaded by the user but I'm worried about the cost of a server that can do that. I have standard shared hosting with unlimited space but if loads of videos get uploaded it might cause a problem with the host. At the moment I can't afford things like cloudservers etc.

Reply to:
1) Even if they can upload a good quality rip/sample, some artists probably wouldn't like it. Will "clips" be allowed?
2) Possibly, you could always add links to Amazon/Discogs/Trackitdown/juno search/query pages for all releases, unless maybe someone has specified a purchase link already.
3) then you don't mind me if I upload makina, hard trance or hard house as DJ's didn't mind that (Hixxy comes into mind on Bonkers 4).
4) I await the day it becomes a proper archive :).
5) As long as Ytube still allows embedding video's, use that. Usage of Soundcloud or other real audio-streamign services would be another good service to use.

Adding the link to where to buy the track is the sort of nerdy thing I would enjoy doing for all the videos :P
as a "go to" place for information about the track, and whether it was released digitally would make the site even more awesome
I buy all the old stuff on vinyl (1990 - 2003) but I'm slowly going to be getting hold of the digital versions too just so that when I buy CD decks I can use them on there too
OO that reminds me, whether the digital release was a vinyl-rip or not, I noticed some of the Nu Energy early tracks that they released on the Hard Beats store were just vinyl rips - had I not found that out before hand I would have probably been a bit bummed out if I had purchased them

I would still buy them if they are better rips than my own.

I'm hoping in time my blog will be a decent directory of classic hardcore tunes. If you follow the site and submit tunes then you gain competition entries. The first competition prize is a sealed copy of Hardcore Underground Volume 1.
The blog is pretty specific and will cover 90's Happy Hardcore, Freeform Hardcore, Breakbeat Hardcore and UK Hardcore.
