yarrrr, just don't like the taste
just like some people don't like the taste of brussel sprouts
I don't see the point in meat-flavoured food, if you're going to eat stuff thats flavoured like meat then just eat the real thing...derp! :D

I think that's probably more for health/moral/religious reasons for people who can't eat meat but still enjoy the taste/similarity to meat.
I'm not big on meat and have considered trying substitutes at times but I can't stand the texture of tofu.

Tofu is lovely, I love really plain foods so tofu is perfect for me. I could just eat a giant cube of it.

I ate it a good few times a week when I was in Vietnam. They love it out there.

both veggies and meatys can eat food without meat in it.
was just reading up on it, aparently the same % of people are veggie in the states as in the UK (roughly 10% of the population). so as to differences in menus..It's just much more acceptable to be veggie over here I guess. nobody over here has a coniption fit if it ever comes up in conversation, whereas in the states if it ever got mentioned everyone seemed to stop and stare......or perhaps that was my accent ;)
I never thought of calling non-vegetarians 'meatys' lol. I might start.
