I've been playing about with this but am not sure I know exactly what to do. It doesn't seem to be an offbeat bass so I assume it plays at the same time as the kick, if this is the case is it generally really low to put it below the kick or what?

Any help appreciated :).

I think what your talking about IS the kickdrum, or rather the extremely distorted arse-end of it. Get yo 909s out and add some distortion/filters,etc. May possibly be some reverb in there somewhere, in which case it would mean "bouncing" the audio.

I make mine in FL5 by gettin a kick and time-stretching and distorting them. Works for me!

Hey Bulby, how're those tracks coming along? You got the Blake Reary remix ready yet?

Also, can't wait to hear some new freeform and Bulby_Gabber.

Oh it is just a kickdrum! I thought that at first but started to think nah there must be bass as well... Cheers guys :).

Leto - The Reary remix is so nearly done... Just a couple of small pointers I've been given on it that need sorting. Gabber will be a while as I'm not familiar with producing it but freeform stuff is on the way :)

I'm patiently awaiting the return of Bulby_g....

Seriously, your tracks will complete my mix. Should be done a couple days after I get your tracks.

You can make the Kick drum with pro 53 .
And then use Blood Overdrive, Fast Dizz (or another dist plugin), bass boost, 7 band eq (or another)....
A little sample:

Thats the secret :>

You can make kickdrums with pretty much any synth :)

Here's one i made ages ago on the V-Station (it didn't distortion on till now though):

http://www.ivuk.org/hosted/hard2get/untitled.mp3

If you like it you can have the preset :) The trick to making Gabber kick's really good and phat though is in the filtering/EQ'ing (after sampling the kick sound). Before that it sounds quite unrefined :)

I found the best way to make real nasty gabber kickdrums with enough distortion to sound harsh but not totally destroy the bass sound is to layer them up a little - have one some real crashiness, one for some punchiness and one to supply enough bass. different types of distortion work better, but you've gotta blend em together too (compression and reverb)
ill upload clips when i get home :)
any audio clips of what kind of kicks you're looking for?

Cheers, nice one mate :) I can prob get some clips together but I mean all I'm looking for is a pretty standard nu-style kick.

its all about trying to get the tail end of the kick to sound like a bassline, try and gate it and reverb it and distort, so u can sorta get a hardstyle whoomp sounding bassline at the end of your distorted kick drum :)
