Im going to take the big head-first dive into music production. Not even hardcore specific. Rap beats, chill-out, down-tempo stuff.
How do you guys like using FL Studio? I see there is a version 6 coming soon. Thinking about saving money for this when it comes out but i come here to get the info i need from people who know what their doing (you guys )
Thanks in advance to anyone who reads and can tell me about this program.

I dont exactly know what I'm doing yet but I like the program. I found that all the sounds within the program are a bit pants and have had to get some plugins but the program itself is nice and simple and seems to do the job just fine. I havn't used any other programs yet other than a quick go with reason so can't really compare against anything.
I upgraded from v4 - v5 for free but i'd have to check to see if you get lifetime upgrades or just one, not too sure on that? Well hope this helps a little anyway, good luck with it all.

have to agree with bulby fl does everything you need and is pretty easy enough to learn.
i also got reason but found myself uninstalling it after a few weeks........to me it just did everything fruity does but in different ways.
so im bk on fruity......get urself some plugins....theres some freeware ones which you can get first just to get the hang of. kvr audio website has a list of free downloads i think.
bulby im pretty sure you can upgrade to version 6 now for free.

Several great points made:
The lifetime v. Upgrade- I read that on their website and i think thats cool as F*%$ you can keep upgrading.
The sounds being kinda dull- I checked out their website and um I think its' spelled the 'Sytrius' (sp?) Plug in . That seems to have cool sounds.
Fraud- Thanks! Ill be sure to pick his brain a little once i actually get the program.
Thank You for the quick replys guys. Im kinda pumped out it...being able to make my own music. no matter how shitty it'll sound to someone else at least ILL like it. lol

My mate makes hiphop beats for underground rappers whose recently had releases with his stuff.
He uses fruity for his beats and he rips loops(melodies) etc from old records.
But with FL, you could do ur own melodies, just gotta grab a hold of good samples and synths that suit what u wanna do.

***BUMP****
I picked up this Program today from my boss for $20 Brand New(figured, what the hell...$20 bucks is no biggie) and now i have some questions...
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000AOZ7FO/ref=nosim/globalproduce-20/104-2788541-2015147?dev-t=D10XJCRCELB30P I still intend on getting FL Studio. Will this program be sorta like FL in regards to interface, and general operation? Itll be fun making bull shit stuff for now just to get my feet wet. Im just hoping this new program wont hamper my getting used to FL studio. Thanks to anyone who can shed some light on this stuff.
