Right who's feeling helpful?

I have purchased a pair of KRK RP6 speakers and an Echo Audio Mia soundcard. Just checked the boxes to see that I had everything I need and I see there is no cables and an American wall plug (great).

A: What cables do I need? The speakers have an RCA port (unbalanced) a TRS 1/4 port & an XLR port (balanced).

B: Can you get a convertor for an English wall socket to take an American 2 pin plug? I am capable of changing it but I don't like attacking expensive things still on warranty.

Any help on this much apreciated as i'd like to have them working over the christmas holidays :)

The Mia has 1/4" TRS (balanced) outputs doesn't it? The KRKs have similar inputs..... go buy some balanced 1/4" leads from your local music store (they're the ones with 2 black bands on the plugs).

As for power leads...... usually you can just swap the lead that goes into the transformer (if it is a seperate lead eg a kettle type lead)..... what are the power leads like on your monitors?

Ok cheers mate, yeah the Mia does have 1/4 TRS balanced outports.

Do you mean just buy new power leads for the speakers? Yeah didn't think about that, (my brain must be working slow today) they are just standard kettle ports on the speakers. I guess ill have to change the fuse as well.

Thanks allot for the help :)

I had a fuse problem with my rubicons and the instructions said nothing about being able to change the voltages.

I RTFM, but it didnt say anything. Anyway, I got a bunch of new fuses from Jaycar, and found out that if you flip the fuse chambery thing upside down, it changes the voltages.

They are sweet monitors, but crappy instructions. What happened to plug and pray?

Exactly what I thought when I got mine.

*edit*

It looks like I do have to get a fuse :(.

In the booklet it has:

100v - 120v 1.6A
220v - 240v 800mA

I assume I'll need to put in an 800mA fuse to each speaker as they seem to have come ready to be used in America?

Forgive me for not being an electrics boff but is an 800mA a fairly standard fuse i'll be able to pick up somewhere local quite easily?
