Im having some trouble with a mix i recorded last night.
Currently I have my mixer connected to the reciever, then outed to my laptop for recording.
When i saved it as a .wav then put on the headphones for a listen, there was this slight static distortion sound following the music. And some records it would be worse than others, and on every song it would static then stop, static then stop every second, like half of the vinly itself was staticy.
Just need some help, what do you guys think it is? Im speculating its the needles or the quality i recorded it in (it was recorded at 32000 sample rate at 16-bit).

also

anyone know how to use cool edit?
can anyone tell my why if i up the recording sample rate the amount of time i can record is shortened?
Sample rates are as follows:
192000 <- (gives like half a second of recording)
96000
88200
64000
48000
44100
32000
22050
ext...

thanks

I always just record at the highest level, you can compress it later if you need to. Sounds like it could be the needles or the connection...
