What do I need to do to get someone to say my name into my mixes? Like for example "Dj Seeky in the mix" or something along those lines.

Any help would be much appreciated

I do this in two ways.

1.Quick solution

Ask an mc and get him to do it live in the mix.

2.A better solution (Do it yourself)

Record your vocals on to a computer and import them into a wave editor. Add fx to liven the sound.
The classic radio eq is a good one to get you started (where the high and low end of the sound is eq'd out). Nearly every radio station uses this effect for their vocal snippets.

You can also add sounds to make it more interesting,

e.g. a siren, sustained sound.

This will be more of a jingle than a vocal sample, but can be very effective and useful to scratch over your mix using cd decks.

At this point you can either write these off on to cd and play/scratch them over your sets live.

or

you can record your mix into the computer and importit into a sequencer with your effected vocals and place the vocal samples where ever you like in the mix.

Experimentation and perceverence are all thats needed to make professional sounding vocal snippets.

Unless you know somebody who will do one for you for free, or you are prepared to record yourself (or a mate) and then produce the final sweeper/id/liner then there are companies who will produce these for you if you supply them with a script and some ideas etc - but make sure they'll provide you with them "unproduced" ie just the vox

Reccomendation: http://www.raygauthier.com/

but a better reccomendation is to do it yourself.

I record my vocals in soundforge first. I'll usually play about with them in there, making multiple copies and time stretching the hell out of them, adding effects (flange and phase are quite popular, along with extreme eq effects). Then once I have lots of copies I take them over to Logic Audio (my sequencer of choice) and start layering them up with music beds and swoops, crashes and bangs until I'm happy with the results...... remember, variety is the key to an interesting sweeper - listen to Ray's demo to get an idea.

Obviously, if your doing these to lay over the top of your mix then you'll want to keep the music bed out, and watch your fx etc so they don't clash with your beats too much.

Good luck with this
