Hi all,
I have some 1210's (mk5's)
Does anyone know how to speed them up? I've removed the platter and there is a pot to adjust the brake speed but not the pitch. Any ideas?

Why didn't you buy the MK5 model that has the double pitch button?

it's all hardcore.

if there isn't a pot on there for pitch I don't know what to tell you. the older ones it was blue and on the upper right hand corner of the pcb.

Why do people feel the need to speed up there decks? I've had a pair of mk3's since I started mixing and have never felt like I need extra pitch, I would say I mix at a fairly high BPM.

makes it easier to make your sets more out of the ordinary, you can mix practically anything together with unlimited pitch

I personally dont like doubled pitched decks it makes fine tuning the pitch very hard and your constantly correcting your records because the pitch slider is so sensative.

it's all hardcore.

Have to agree there I don't get on with vestax or ttx's I find with tech's you can get it in time straight off and pretty much leave the record from there and get on with chopping etc without faffing about. you can mix in things like trance by just sticking them in - on 33 fair enough you can't mix in slower stuff but it would sound crap pitched up that much anyways.

ermmmmm

on the TTX's you can change the pitch to 8%, 10%, 20% and 50%

8% is fine for mixing - same as technics....maybe you just need to practise :)
you can leave em in time and they stay in time...

still don't get on with them had a go on my mates and I just didn't like them I get enough practice trust me :) (would put a mix up to prove it if someone would host it?!) I guess people just like what there used too the torque is a bit high compared to techs on ttx's and vestax which probably throws my pitch judgement a bit also they seem a bit to digital and I don't feel in control.

ps. Im probably just a tech fanboy supporting the cause.

Because they were more expensive and I didn't think I'd need the extra pitch.

I have been buying a lot of older hardcore lately and some of it sounds really slow, I know hardcore has got faster over the years but I do like to throw the odd older tune into a newish set, and cannot get some records to play quick enough. I also find I only use between 0% and +8% pitch 90% of the time so my decks playing say 3% quicker at +/-8% (really +11/-5%) would suit me better.

No, the G's have gold bits on don't they? Mine are just Mk5's.

Errrrrrm, Yeah,

I can mix fine, and quite enjoy throwing a record in, and sitting back and watching it mix itself, freeing up your hands to play with the mixer. The only problem is having the odd record that I can't play as fast as I would like to.

Thanks

yo dj sicosis be careful about expressing your opinions about hardcore thats 2 slow. u might get flammed.

http://happyhardcore.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=20663

about the techs i wouldnt speed them up. i had the same delema as you and i decided to not mess with the techs because if u get good and are about to play a set that requires sped up techs you wont be able to play that set any where because the techs there would be ordinary ones.

what i recommend is that you have to get an mp3 version of all the records that arnt fast enouf and use cd players to get them into your sets.

ever heard of getting a coffin or cases?

some headliners will refuse to play on certain decks so you have to appease them

if you think just bringing 12's is too much work you've evidently never set up speakers for a party =P
