Ok, here's my situation:
Today I tried updating to IE6, for no real reason I guess, ver.5 was working fine. Anywho, all seemed to go well, until I went to listen to the mixes in the competition section on this site, and they wouldn't play! I got messages like 'can't find specified file' and 'can't find server' and so on.
So I uninstalled IE6, but it had no effect. Then I tried uninstalling Media Player 7.1, which I'd installed the day before IE6, and still got the same messages.
Then I uninstalled Media Player altogether, and reinstalled 7.1, but still nothing.
Now I'm getting a new message: The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request.
I've checked the network settings in WMP, and they're all fine.
The last thing I can think of trying is reinstalling IE from scratch, but I don't really want to have to do that.
So, any suggestions? I'm also running Win98, and using a cable modem, if that helps at all.
Thanks,
Ruffage

You need to install Media play 6 or higher, if you have uninstalled IE6.x you will need to reinstall IE5.x because if you uninstall it your IE turns into IE2.x
Also install directX 8 if you are using Win98 (it might help)

But I am running IE 5.5X, and WMP 7.1, and I have DirectX 8 installed.
It was working fine with this setup before I updated to IE 6 - this is when the problems started.
My network settings in MPlayer are as such:
Multicast, UDP, TCP, HTTP [all checked]
MMS [None]
HTTP [Browser]
