Has anyone got this? Is it as good as they say? I have no contract with Talktalk and Sky atm, and I'm playing Clint Eastwood with the pair of them to get the best deal, but also notice virgin have a good offer and so do BT, anyway will be getting FOB with my new deal, so is it worth the bit xtra?

virgin media is the best but also the most expensive. Never been with talk talk but heard it was really good. And sky, rubbish !

"Fiber Optic Broadband?" "Is it as good as they say?" eh, you can't exactly get any better broadband than fiber, so if it's not good, it's becuase the ISP is limiting it to hell. Also, I have had fiber for over 10 years!

I'd get it if I could but there is no fibre optic line here. :( Well worth it if you download/upload large files regularly, pointless paying more for it if you don't though. Regular broadband is more than enough for general use and streaming at 1080p.

My apartment building has had fiber optic for some years, but only now we got it routed to every apartment. Next year will be getting either a 10/10M (16e/month) or a 100/10M (26e/month) connection. Now have 10/2M (20e/month).

I've had 10/10 since 2001, and i got 100/10 around 2006-07. Also, I have no problems with my ISP, other than they are one of the more expensive alternatives (35 euros), but I can have 5 IPs out and dont have to **** around with routers and hubs

I work on behalf of Virgin, Talk Talk, Primus and sky.
I'd say if you're getting inbetween 10 and 20 meg there's no point paying the extra tbh but it really depends on what you use the net for.
If you want a comparison to what you have at moment and what you would pay with fibre message me on FB my profile links in my signiture.

Isn't fiber optic meant to be the fastest?
1.7mb/s dl and 120kb/s upload isn't even as fast as my telstra 3g hspda+ speeds on my phone :S
Home wireless broadband is ~3mb/s dl and 3-500kb/s upload
Telstra 4g on phones is ~10mb/s dl and ~2mb/s upload
The **** is the point paying for extra if it's not even as fast as what iv'e already got?

I guess it depends on the country you live in. Fiber itself supports MUCH MORE (+1Gb/s) than what most ISP sells it for. The speeds Graham mentioned are definitly Fiber, 100Mb/10Mb.
