I have another person helping me out at the moment but neither of us know much about web development (I'm having to learn HTML, CSS, PHP, and MySQL on the fly). Is there anyone here who has some time to spare and good knowledge of at least some of the above? Any kind of help would be appreciated.
This is also my 404th post. Fitting.

time to make your 405th then? :)
Anyways, I've been playing around with most of what you've mentioned since 1997 (mostly HTML, everything later) My design might not be the best, but the code I understand.

may i ask you why you need to learn html and css? if you need to learn it because of school, ok but otherwise i would use a very good web-editor don't know if that one is still called dreamwave but it was good ennough that you could just design full websites without knowing the code - and the code was correct. not that faulty shit microsofts frontpage used to produce...

If he's trying to use php / mysql I would imagine he's trying to make dynamic content (using a database).
Dreamweaver doesn't seem to handle the coding and envisioning it in it's display very well (i'm using cs4 and it's quite crap). It doesn't seem to understand some advanced css either. Always had to dig deep into coding. It's great to learn all that stuff though. It helps you tackle the harder tasks. You can pretty much create your own applications if you learn enough of the above.

I started out using Frontpage Express :P
And only time I ever used dreamweaver was to create the <embed> for flash files.

haha. i guess we all had our strange experiences with ms frontpage/express....
what i liked most was that this proggy was doing a <p></p> for new paragraphs way too often, actually it was producing so much unneccesary code-trash that a .html file done with dreamwaver was maybe only 1/3rd of filesize for the same content.
i also happend to get only blank pages when tried out a frontpage html side in a browser other than internet explorer

dunno sorry. your saying is probably true. i have stopped html programming and coding and things years ago and the time i did, dreamwaver was the software to have, won every test, etc.
no idea how its looking today, imho the company was bought/taken over/sold a while ago?!
honestly, these days you can't impress anyone with html coding anymore, it's sad. every child can have it's own facebook page and that's the "homepage" of today.

Have you ever tried saving a word document or an excel spreedsheet as a html page? now we're talking about a messy code :)

Yeah agreed man, you can't. Most of the time it's do-able with dreamweaver anyway. I didn't know they got sold out. I know Adobe have a program called Muse now aswell. Which is for web devlopment. Don't know if it's any good though.

I actually bought Magic(Xara) Webdesigner (just to get Xara 3D maker for free). I was dumbstroke... I didn't know what to do with the program. Even with tutorial guides/video's I didn't know. Either it's very complicated busniess, or it's just to easy for smart people to comprehend. :P
