I want to start collecting vinyl and need some decks. I'm really new to this and wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what to get started with. I don't want to spend a fortune and don't mind getting second hand ones. Thanks :)

if you just intend to play or record, the one I use at the moment is Numark's TT-USB, which has both 2 regular RCA Jacks (for stereos) and USB connector so you have 2 ways to connect it to a PC.

Thanks for your replies, I would like to learn how to scratch at some point so I guess ones for that.

Before I replied I had to double check this date of this topic, just incase someone had dug it up from the archives! haha
awesome, good on you! Obviously there is the old faithful Technics 1200's or 1210's. If you can get your hands on a decent set of these it'll be a good starting point.
if you then want to concentrate more on the scratching side of things then you can check out some mixers specifically designed for scratching. I still use the Vestax PMC-05 PROIII but tbh most modern mixers will do the job.
If your seriously looking to get into scratching, mixing, beat juggling & all that mallarcy then instead of getting records, & as much as I love vinyl, invest in Serato Scratch Live SL2 & get the best of both worlds. MP3's controlled by vinyls. Instant duplicates of any track for juggling & the use of endless samples for scratching, not to mention mixing music. Hope this helps...
