There was cloud cover, but I tried picking up any trails with my DSLR on a really slow shutter speed. Got nothing. Saw one, made a wish, then went to bed :D

we saw quite a few over the weekend, like Olly we cranked out the DSLR but didn't manage to catch anything but stars

Thats a really nice image. I'll upload one later, though it was ruined by glare and cloud cover. I use a Sony F707. Semi-Professional high end camera from 2001. Fantastic lens and very nice to use, but at the moment I'm adding loads of parts to it such as Wide Angle lens, a flash, and soon a new lens hood.
My dad has a 400D for his work. They're fantastic camera's, though their biggest drawbacks are the fact you can't use live preview on the LCD screen. Perhaps his one is old, but that really bugs me that you're forced to use the eye-piece (terminology escapes me)

yeah there are a ton of things I'd like to invest in for the camera - lens hood would be particulaly useful with all this nice weather we've been having
but flashgun and remote shutter thingy are next on my list would love a wife angle lens, that would be great!
