Unfortunately not...and Owen has lot it too...remember the 5-1 win in your own backyard ;)
Scott Parker is a great player, he has qualities that the likes of Barry and Carrick dont. His close control is exceptional, his harrassment of the opposition and his change in direction is very quick. He also is a very committed player. Barry is far too slow and just not the player he was 4 years ago. Carrick is a great passer but hes only effective when a midfield is built around him. Ferguson has learnt this now and thats why hes so effective...he has to be the main midfielder and he wouldnt be for England.
Wilshere would obviously walk into our side and by missing him we are missing a central midfielder who can actually beat a man. He reminds me a little of Gascoigne in that respect who is still the greatest English player of my generation for me.
Leon Britton....seriously? 1 season in the Premier league...whos to say it wasnt a fluke? He doesnt know ANY of the international team or the coaches, so he would literally have 4 weeks to settle in and get used to playing a new system against world class opposition.
Same goes for Grant Holt except hes even worse. I was watching him in League 2 just a few years ago for Shrewsbury and he wasnt even the best striker in the division then! Also hes 31...we are supposed to be looking to the future. Why bring Holt in just for this tournament? He wont get a look in for the world cup qualifiers when Rooney has no ban, bent is fit and I think Carroll will have a big season next season.
I was hoping we would build for the future a bit more with this squad as Roy has nothing to lose...the FA arent expecting great things from us in this tournament...however....take people like Holt, Britton etc and lets say we get knocked out in the group stage...everyone will say its cause he picked too many uncapped players.
What I really dont understand is how the hell Rob Green is still getting selected?? Made the mistake of his career in the last world cup and has been playing in the Championship all season. What has Scott Carson done wrong?
Either way this is England's 'Golden Generations' last chance. And they better play like it aswell. If we go out in the groups then Gerrard, Terry, Cole, Lampard, Barry, Parker, should never play for England again. They are all the wrong side of 30 now and this should be their last chance as they just havent achieved what they should have.

ok, so yeah lets just pick players on reputation rather than form like we do every other tournament, and fail, again. why not try something different for once and if it fails, then fair enough.
i agree about green though, hes pants. i dont think carsons really had a look in since the croatia 08 qualifier since he ****ed up, but if green is still around after his f*ck up, then why isnt carson?
tbh england just aint good enough to compete with likes of spain or holland, ya know, the countries with proper youth set ups
