What the **** happened to it!
A week or so ago at a party a mob of snooty bitches literally walk up to me and bitch about my outfit. I was wearing UFOs and **** tons of kandi. Then not an hour later 3 of them walk up to me and act like total kandi monsters and say "you should give me a bracelet or you dont follow PLUR.
Its seems to me that PLUR kind of turned into a situational thing.
End rant. Sorry that just pissed me off.

PLUR was said to be an 80s thing against racism which was unheard of at raves.

There was never actually a kandi thing in the UK really. Nekoshuffle is the only guy I've ever seen properly loaded with the stuff and I've been to hundreds of raves. I've seen Sc@r wear a few bits but never much and she is from Aus originally I believe!
I still find Hardcore parties have a great crowd personally. A few dicks but then there always has been. Perhaps some people where too loved up to notice/remember but they where there. :P

Not every raver is able to control herself/himself being under the influence of drugs (illegal and legal ones) and not every raver is coming in peace automatically. *******s have conquered the world, because it's how to be successful.
Love, Peace and Unity to you!

Yeh, Oz used to have quite a bit hanging off people. Haven't seen any for ages, but haven't been to a mainly hhc event in ages either. These days people tend to wear phatties and hi-vis and leave it at that. I didn't mind kandi, much better than ****ing whistles.

The whistles do kind of piss me off sometimes...
I love kandi because they're fun to make and if I meet someone that is generally nice or does me a favor I have something to say thanks with. I love collecting them at parties they're little memories of the fun ive had.

Chav culture and the 'non-physical' disciplining of kids is what happened.
Don't get me wrong, i don't advocate violence against kids, but a good slap round the arse for being a bastard never did me any harm as a kid.
When kids realised they could do pretty much anything without consequence is when it all went bad. I'm not especially old, 27, there are a few chav's around my age that I know, but that number increases exponentially as the age range decreases to about adolesence.
In the UK atleast, not sure what it's like for Bogans and whatever American Chav's are called...

Meh. I'm 28 and loads of people where into Hardcore/DnB/Jungle/Oldskool at my school. Most of us where what would now be classed as "chavs" at the time. Although it was townies back then :P. I dont think theres any more now than there was then, despite what the media would like people to think.
When we went to parties though we stopped acting like cocky twats and just enjoyed the friendly vibes. There was the odd person that acted like a tit though and of course the odd mugger. Its no different now really. Sure, I wasn't there in '89 but I massively doubt it was different then... There's always dicks about, no matter how good the pills are that everyone is necking.

Regardless of raves, there aren't more trouble makers today than there ever was. They might do it in a different way than they used to but people are people now as much as they ever were 30 years ago or whatever. I'm surprised anyone can really think that things are worse now than before. I mean really? Come on. That's pretty short sighted. While it might be nice for people to pretend their generation was better, it's just not true. People at an immature age will always act immature, it's how humans work, and it doesn't change from one generation to the next. There is a quote somewhere from some Monk or something from the 16th century or something like that (i really remember no exact details) that basically is saying that the youth of today is so much worse than before and explaining just how bad it is, as many still do now. Things might be different but they aren't worse.

PLUR is there just to gather people, it can't change them. Other than that, it's just a stupid acronym like every other. In the end, you absolutely don't need PLUR to promote peace, love, unity and respect.

Coincidence that Youth Crime rate has been on the increase since the mid 80's up to 2008? Granted its dropping off a little more since. But it still doesn't change the fact that there is a surprising correlation between rising youth crime rates and the disappearence of the 'PLUR' attitude...
This maybe post hoc ergo procter hoc, but it implies a correlation IMO.
So, Audio Warfare, me and you were in school around the middle point of this curve.
