I probably should've posted this sooner on the events page (not sure If I'm allowed to though) but this was as close to what I think a real UK Hardcore rave would be like (I've never been to one, considering the Midwest has a UK Hardcore forcefield that only few DJs have penetrated, and Hardcore Synergy is the only one you'll find). They even had MCs. This was last weekend BTW.
Anyway, having only heard UK Hardcore mixes I've found that MCs only work live, they definitely add hype to the crowd. TANUKI pretty much played everything I loved 2-3 years ago and there wasn't really any thing 'J' about him as he just played Gammer tracks and other stuff you'd hear in an old DJ Cotts mix. JAKAZiD played his tracks, which I loved, but I don't remember much other than he was going into We Are The Vampires, but didn't which was pretty anti-hype. M-Project was unique compared to the rest of the line-up but IMO forgettable (lots of Video Game remixes). Remo-con played Tech Dance and also the hardest stuff I've ever heard live. Then someone else came on, but I had to leave in the middle of it because of family obligations.
Thinking back on it, it was the the rave I've always wanted to go to since 2-3 years ago when I first got into raving and overall was a very unique experience for someone who's only been raving in Chicago. I'm definitely going again next year.
Did anyone else attend? How does this rave compare to a typical Hardcore rave in the UK? What IS a typical Hardcore rave?
Wait... I joined back in 2009!? Damn this was a nostalgia trip. Too bad in the meantime I went from being a Hardcore purist to Disco House and Hardgroove Techno (and the many other four-to-the-floor genres you'll hear in a typical Chicago rave). How's the hardcore scene been since last year?
