I have finally found a mainstream song made in the last ten years that I actually enjoy.
The shocking part is it's Empire State of Mind by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys.
I don't know what to do now, it's like everything I held true is crumbling. Someone help.

lmao, as if liking something in this world meant the end of it.
You really have no idea what you're talking about in terms of context. =P.
I haven't liked any mainstream songs since Creed & Lifehouse, My sacrifice and Hanging by a moment respectively, How you remind me and Seven Nation Army, and Evanescence pulling in the late bloomer in 03.
There has been a decent amount of stuff since then I have liked, but it is nowhere near mainstream.
And in all honesty, it's only Alicia Keys' parts that I like, I have no warmth in my heart for Jay-Z or commercial rap. Don't mind a good bit of other hip hop though.

I know exactly where you're coming from, I've not listened to anything commercial in YEARS, since like I left school really (So over a decade now >.<). I'm yet to find any true pop song that I've enjoyed since... Although I can imagine that it's a rather odd experience... It'd be like finding a really good speed garage tune after over a decade of hating the genre (Which has actually been done, I despise Speed Garage, but low and behold in about 04 I found one!). www.discogs.com/Mr-Spring-Voyager-2004/release/339952 <- If you can find a preview/mp3, that's the tune :)
So yeah, I know where you're coming from :) Maybe you're just getting more tolerant with age? xD

meh, if its a good song I don't really care who made it or how it was made..
personally I can't get into anything like that though
chart wise I find myself liking Emeli Sand....though she has massively stupid hair and I have a thing about people saying "recognise" in music, just sounds retarded..
heaven only made it to #2 in the UK, but there you go...

getting more tolerant with age? I doubt it. It's one song I like amongst hundreds I can't turn off quick enough. Time will tell I guess.
Though I am a sucker for a clean piano melody.

If you don't like the Jay Z parts of the song, you could just listen to Alicia Keys' solo version. Or do you like the hip hop beat of the other?

or if neither works for you, then you can go the way of Kurt Cobain and off yourself. He had trouble accepting his tracks turning mainstream it pretty much led him to that. Clearly it's not the exact same thing as what you're talking about, but meh give it a try

I only found out about that yesterday evening. The solo version is good with just piano and backing voc's, but I do enjoy a hip hop beat.
I'll pass on that one latin. It's not my music.
