regarding the lower frequencies... I mean just on the bass, not on the kick btw. I wouldn't cut off anything from the bottom personally. I never low cut basses and kicks. It needed more around 30hz-80hz(ish). it had very little sub frequency compared to the kick.
Right aye, what I normally do with the bass (not the kick) is boost either side of around 100hz then do a low cut from about 50/60hz so that the kick can come through that little bit more and provide the lowest frequencies.....I don't know what other people do on this forum regarding this but I'll give it a go and see how it sounds mate cheers!

I go along with everything that AW said.
The breakdown is really nice so when the vocal comes in at 2:09 it spoils it a bit and, imo, it's worth trying to get it to sound right. ;)

Do you mean at 2:54 mate? I'm defo guna keep the vocal that comes in at 2:54....regarding the breakdown bit I didn't really try it without the vocal because it sounded right to me, and it introduces the sped up vocal before it comes in later on.... BUT...i'll have a **** around with it n see what it sounds like.....
A don't think i'm ever guna get this finished lol

Well I couldn't say if the boosts are needed without hearing the raw sound but I would guess that the cut from 50/60hz is probably a bad idea. It needs more sub frequency so this could well be the thing that is holding it back. Really you want this sort of bass to have as much low end as the kick. Otherwise it will sound very weak on a big system. You have it sidechained so it shouldn't interfere with the kick so no need to worry about that.

I do mean 2:09. That's where the sped-up vocal first comes in and, imo, it don't sound right. :/

We will have to agree to disagree but cheers for the feedback!
Gary, I went back into the project and I hadn't actually cut any bass frequencies out at all, but I've boosted the sub frequencies that you were on about which is making it sound that little bit better, I think it does anyway. bass soundin nice n warm :)
