I'm just wanting to know how to mount an image using this program. I also dont know how or if ya gota make an image so any help with that would be great. If your not sure what program I mean heres a pic of the icon. OH and its a game Im wanting to mount :)

Load it up, right click on the icon in your task bar open the virtual cd/dvd rom menu, click the virtual drive you want to use and select mount image. To run the program open up your my computer and click the virtual drive like you would a normal cd/dvd. Can't remember if you have to create a virtual drive or not. It's a pretty straight forward program to use.

oh yeah I know how to do that its just the image I'm having trouble with. I mean what the hell is the image, I've been through every file in the game to load it and it still says I need the cd :(

you need an ISO file of the game CD itself, not the game files

Some people dont like to use the cd's and create cd images to save the original from damage.
Have you create a disk image?
If you have some games will require the disk to be in the drive its a form of copy protection.
There are ways round it but are technically illegal so im not sure Silver would want them discussed.

if he owns the games its not actually illigal.

if he modifys the game in anyway, then he is breaking the terms of use..
but..
the game companys that use copy protection are violating his right to create his single WORKING backup.
takeing his game disc and copying it ..world couldnt think of a good enough sentence lol .com
some games only need a mini image to work, with isnt breaking the terms in anyway, as u dont midify the game in anyway - just means u dont have to use ur cd once the game is installed.

Normally the only reason one would use daemon would be to mount an image of a CD... so that you can install the game without having to burn it!
But you CAN'T use it to play the game if its illegal... evan with the image mounted! your just wasting your time mate!
Theres ways around it like using curerom... but thats to complecated to Explain!
The most efective use and most common way is to search the Web for a "NOCD CRACK"
Its simple really... its the .exe file used to boot the progream/game up... only its been rescripted and had the script/coding that tells the program to search for that speacil coding on the CD... REMOVED!!!
All you do... is download the NoCD cracked exe and replace the original one with it!
Therefore your game just boots up... no need for CD 
What i have posted is NOT illeagal!
I havn't told of any infomation on where to get them... i simple told him how it works... and to serach for it himself! (Although there not hard to find - google is your freind)

N0-cd cracks are illegal as far as im aware as you are changing part of the software without the makers permission.

you would use a program (e.g. Alcohol) to create a .iso file (image) of the game CD which you could then mount to use at will... keep in mind this chews alot of HDD space!

cheers for your help guys :) The hhd space pffft mines 160gb should be no trouble. And yeah this probably is in the wrong section, but theres no other place beside general disscusion, and this isnt general.

Not in some cases...
Games like GTA & The SiMs (pc ofcource!) are well known for the huge 3rd party libarys on the big wide web of downloadable patchs and mods... that make the game feel new again!
These are all made by people just like me and you... sitting on there computer and have nothing better to do.. they sit there and reprogram the game... and put in new stuff as they have the knownledge to do so...
This is... "modifing" the game (i.e. why there called "mods")
In GTA you have everything from real cars with real handling, new buldings, islands, weponds ect ect EVERYTHING!
hey you have some sites that are like car dealers lol! alowing you to browse almost any modal of car you want... to slap it in the game and drive it round the streets of GTA JUST LIKE THE REAL THING!!!
Other games like the sims... have libarys and mods for new items... around the home... ect ect... almost anything you want... its probly been made!!
BUT... the produces of The SiM's PRAISE it!!! they love it!
cuse it opens up more freedom of expression...
and some of the guys evan get payed to do it now :D
I used to play THPS & THUG (Tony Hawks!) passionatly everyday online on the pc...
one of my mates from candna whos leader of the "FuQ" clan... designed his own ENTIRE PATCH for the game!
called "muddafuq" - he made he own type of games... own menus... EVERYTHING!
He reinveted tony hawks online... and changed so many stupid thingd about the game that you couldn't do before!
Like being able to type forever without having a limit (Handy for people like me  lol
It is illeagal... yes... but it won't stop... cuse producers love it!
Hey, If it was my game... and people were adding there own ideas to it at there own freewill... then F*CK YES, i'd love it!
Cuse it means PEOPLE NEVER GET BORED!!!
and in the end you have a fan base that is ADDICTED with PASSION to your work!!! all trought the art of freedom of expression by adding there own ideas into it!
Its only if you make money from it - then i would personally say, your crossing the line!
As for no CD cracks... illeagl yes... but once again the same thing aplys!
Aslong as you've brote the game... theres no harm done...

Ahhh the good old mod community. I read this mag called pcpowerplay, its an australian mag and they have sections devoted to modding. So yeah what your saying about it its a really great thing :)
