Im thinking of selling my monitors and picking up something slightly smaller.
I currently have Tapco S8's and want to sell em and get "Alesis M1 Active Mk2".
Anyone know if this is a good idea or not?

you'll notice a drop in bass responce if ur going from an 8" to 6.5" driver. you wouldn't save that much space either
personally i would stick to whats gonna sound the best.
having decent speakers so u can hear propperly is probably the most important peice of gear in any studio home or otherwise
just my 2 pennys worth!

I'm currently using KRK Rokit 5's. Great for small time studios They have fantastic sound, very loud, and very responisve!

IMO I would stick with the Tapco's, Had a pair of Alesis.Good Mid range on them but the bass response is very disapointing TBH.Bought a pair of Rokits Rp6 and TBH they blow them out of the water.
BUT go down to your local store and give them a listen.

yeah i was so close to getting the rokit rp6s before i got geed up to get these tapcos.
dunno i was thinking along the lines that these tapcos were a waste of power rather than the physical size.
but im hearing a lotter good things bout these dynaudio bm5s ; )
might hold out for some cash and pick them up once n for all...

3 inches won't make much of a different mate. :]
(no jokes please :])
you've got a good setup as it is, so just stick with that for a few years at least!
