i was deciding to get one of these two packs but im not too sure...
coulda got a numark dj-in-a-box (AU$499.00) but with further research ive read they are belt-driven turntables, which arent as great as direct-drive ones...
opinions?

All cables

numark battlepack AU$799.00
2 x TT1625 multi-directional direct drive turntables with aluminum platters
1 x DM950 2 channel + mic mixer, EQ on each channel, slider style cuing
1 x HF125 flexible 7-position dual headphone
2 x Groove Toolâ„¢ cartridges
1 Pair slipmats

those decks are crap

if you're gonna get anything low end like that you're better off getting them used since you're gonna grow out of them within a year and want to get Technics 1200s anyways

If you get the cheap decks used it means you don't lose money when you have to resell them.

Or you can get a used pair of Technics 1200s for probably 700-800$ AU if you look
Add a cheap mixer on top for 75$ and you've got a full setup

and it'll be FAR, FAR better than any DJ in a box package

Technics 1200s are the best...and they're basically bombproof so they last forver (ie used models are as reliable as new ones...I have one deck that's almost 15 years old and still feels like new)

i'd go the stantons, for the pure fact that i have the T.80 decks and they're as good as technics 1200s interms of specs *hides from technics fanboys*... look on ebay for a good deal!! The numarks you'd really really regret getting... i'm saving my bucks for a set of Stanton T.150... 4.5kg/cm *yummy*

*edit* stay veery clear of belt driven turntables, think a rubber band turning the platter, then think what will happen when the rubber band stretches...

Str8-80s are OK to start out with but they are DEFINATELY not up to par with Technics 1200s.

Str8-80s have alot less torque and hold the pitch very poorly compared to Technics 1200s...they're on a whole other level.

On top of that, 1200s are far more reliable, serviceable and durable (one of mine is over 15 years old) and every club/rave has tech12s - no exceptions - so you might as well learn on what you'll be playing out on.

I've owned many different decks from gemini, numark and stanton and none come even close to Technics 1200s.

If you were at least talking str8-150s then we could have a real debate but Str8-80 vs Technics 1200 is a ridiculous comparison.

I don't even have to correct the mix 90% of the time when I play on my 12s but when I play on Stanton decks (esp. str8-80 and under) I have to correct at least twice every mix, if not more.

Seriously, get used tech12s.

They might "look cool" but that's all a marketing gimmick, it doesn't make them better. It makes them shitty decks that look good.

Anyways, they only look good to people who are new to DJing or know nothing about it because any professional DJ will think they're crap.
