ok... so... whats the diffrence between a strait tone arm
and an "s" shaped one...
see i just fort having a stairt tone arm ment it was crap lol
but I'm hering that there ment to be better for scrathing
also... if i was to buy a concorde stylis (you know the club ones!)
would i be able to put them on a stairt tone arm, as i ent seeing anywhere to adjusts its angle like you can with cart's... there just like, plug on and thats it! fromnwhat I'm taking anyways
and i only ever see them on S shaped tone arms!
also... with some turntables... are there removable tone arms!
and witch turntables can do this lol

Straight tone arms are supposed to be better for scratching but i haven't tried!
My Numark TTX-1's have both - i've tried both ways and can't say i noticed any fifference in sound quality etc - but the 's' shaped arms feel more steady on the vinyl to me.
I've only ever had Stanton carts on my decks so can't answer your other question!

To be exact:
S shaped tone arms position the diamond slightly in front of the curve in the record groove. S shaped tone arms have a natural inward pull, which can be off-set with anti-skate.
Straight tone arms are designed to place the needle perfectly tangent to the curve in the record groove. By design, the straight arm has no natural inward or outward force on the tone arm.
Basicly, the S shaped arms move from side to side in the groove of the record making the sound slightly distorted/worbled. Straight tone arms play the record with less distortion because it doesnt move from side to side.

And yes youcan have concordes on straight tone arm, i use to use them on my vestax pdx2000
imo the s shaped arm is better for beat matching, beat juggling and basic mixing
the straight arm is meant to be better for scratching as there not meant to jump but no matter what i do my technics don't jump and it dont really bother me as my scratching ability aint what that good

i don't get it tho, why do so many pro decks have S arm and the more dear a turntable gets, you'll garentee it to have an S shaped arm :S lol

and cheers guys, yeah i'll be buying myself a concorde soon... i ****ing HATE carts lol... spes the ones that come with stantons... man...
the one f*cked up on me, i was guessing it was cueburn or something... as it started to sound awful!
so i messed about with it (first i'd ever messed bout with one) unscrewed the cart from the headshell, gave it a clean and put it back on (only to then notise that the stlis comes off on its own lol)
then as i went to screw it back on... the cart fell off the cradle type thing that was used to screw the bolts to...... it was held on with a spek of glue... (cheep or what lol)
so i stock it back on with tape lmao, and as it was very unlevel after a while the stylis just ****ed up... in the end it just snaped off lol....
ahwell, it was inevetible... it was gonna happen sooner or later and it was the only way i was gonna learn about it lol
i think they were only worth about £10 in the first place... so defo gotta invest in a new ones ASAP!

^^^^To be honest i know the specs say straight arm is better but i've had vestax pdx 2000 (straight arm) and technics (s shape arm) when i got the vestax they cost £350 each and so did the technics but the technics are ssssssssssssooooooooooooooo much better
what i read and is worth taking in to consideration the straight arm wears your vinyl down quicker!!!!!!!!!
basically the whole point in the straight arm is to stop it skipping/jumping but since upgrading to technics the only time i've had them jump is when i've been p*ssed and banging in to them
watch the DMC championship videos and you'll see for your self its all crap
thats my view anyway

except dmc is proprietary to technics so all it says is if you want to compete here you have to use this equipment =P
most of the newer model tables will allow you to change the tone arm, I've got both straight & s tone arms for my m5gs.

not much difference between tone arms on my ttx1's. however i highly recommend the orfton concorde elecktro. what needles when i put them on my decks i nearly wet myself with joy. lush bass response ace for any hard dance music.

dont know havent tried but i guess they might. doesnt say anything in the instructions. but the cart looks and feels the same as others i have used i think its just white.
