Right this question may seem a bit weird but I'll be very grateful of an answer.

Basically on Windows Media Player, there is a graphic equaliser under enhancments. Basically I have no idea on how equalisers work or the science behind them, but what setting is required to get maximum bass, irrespective of the quality of the music.

I've found that putting the three far left 'things' (31, 62 & 125Hz) up to the top, and the rest to the bottom has the highest level of Bass I think.

If you know what I'm on about roughly, but that I'm talking bollox (probably) please tell me how to get the highest level of bass possible?

Each slider boosts a particular frequency band. Bass frequencies are your low frequencies (as you found out 125Hz and below). so to get het loudest bass you need to boost those lower dliders UP.

You also mentioned reducing the higher frequency bands. Whilst this won't actually make the bass louder, it will reduce the high frequencies. This will make the bass stand out more as there is nothing to detract from it.

I must ask though - why go to such extreme settings? it must sound horrible, like a great big farting thud ball or something with only bass and no mids or treble :-)

Well if you want to know I have a 100W combo bass amp for my bass guitar.

http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?partno=2315600010

After my exams here at Uni, me and a few lads are going to set up the amp outside halls via extension cables, connect my laptop to amp through the CD-in and play out a couple of tracks from the end of Scott Brown's + Neophytes Bonkers 15 mix at full bass level just to see what the beast can do, and how far the bass wil travel. It's only a mess about, but I hope to god it doesn't blow my amp, or I'm well and truly fooked
