How important is a dust cover? I've always liked the Numark ttx-1 since I saw it, and even better, it's cheaper than Technics. The ttx-1 doesn't have a dust cover though, so how much does that matter or is there something else i could use instead?

a nice bed sheet will do the trick mate. dust isnt going to cause much of a problem really but for the effort it takes its better to be cautious

I've never even used the dust cover on my decks, they just sit in the closet collecting dust =P

I'd be afraid to put a bed sheet on them incase they became entangled in/on the tone arm/cartridge/needle

just make sure to dust them, and clean the contacts on your mixer too

I've always kept the covers on my decks. I also give them a daily dusting off.
