Ok...
It's abaout beatzzz how the thread already says. I intend to buy a new groove box; I have in the meantime about up to € 2000. Software is simply too inflexible for me, so I prefer to reach for hardware; it is anyway better in my eyes, furthermore I hate to sit in front of the PC operating with the regulators like a lunatic with the mouse... and everyone, who like hardware, know whats up in my mind ; ).
Any tips, suggestions or recommendations?
-> Hardware RULZ!
ok ok, i use reason and Magix :P, but my Virus TI is my baby 8)

I like the concept behind the http://korg.com/gear/prod_info.asp?a_prod_no=ESX1&category_id=2 <-- Korg Electribe SX. Its VERY analouge, in that it has vacuum tubes for warmth :D <3 warmth xD <-- in the mountains ;)

wow, I just tried out Korg's groove box, directly besides that, i saw Roland's flagship MC 909 and it looked @ me :P (I estimate it is one ^^) . The sounds of the Electribe are really warm and dynamically, just unique :) Roland also has a good Sound pallet and a big choice of effects, to this, rather open. ... I cant make up my mind.
Both^^? lol

The thing with "grooveboxes" is that your stuck with what you get. ie The sounds will date - in particuar the roland MC303/909 ones. When you first get them its easy to put together modern sounding stuff, but as time goes on you have to work harder and harder. The Electribes are better on this side of things in that they are synths rather than sound modules so you can program to your heart's content and the sounds will never date.
With 2000 euro though I would be sorely tempted to splash out on something like one of the Roland MPC samplers. Extremely nice workhorses, and being samplers you are only limited by your imagination and recording ability. They make fantastic live sequencers too!
