I got some questions going on around in my head, and here goes:
1. What's the difference between an ordinary mixer and a battle mixer?
2. What does one use a slipmat for?
3. What is the difference between DJ headphones and "Home-use" Headphones?
4. 2 single cd players+1 mixer requires 3 power sockets, and a dual-cd+mixer requires 2 sockets? am I right?
*still figuring out if I should get dual or single cd...*
5. What mixer do you all have (if you have one), and in Your opinion the cons and pros?

1. The most basic deffrence is the size. A battle mixer is generally much thinner than other mixers. This allows the decks to be placed very close together.
2. A slipmatt is basically a piece of felt or similar material that is placed between the record and the platter of the turntable. This allows the DJ to stop and manipulate the record without affecting the platter.
3. "DJ" headphones generally have a more rugged design.
4. Correct. Each component requires it's own power outlet, so a dual CD player would use only one.
5. I have a Pioneer DJM-600.

lill correction of the difference of battle 'nd ordinary mixer:
if ya got a very good battle mixer you can see what the other is plaing and see all the info about the track you need to know to battle him.. (not always but some thinges have it)

5. I have a Ecler nuo 3.
The only thing i can think of that might be a problem is that you cant use all 3 channels and a mic as 1 of the channels is also the mic channel.

battle mixers are mainly designed for scratching so they usually have 3 (or more) cross fader curves to choose from
I have a rane 54i, tascam xs8, and a pioneer djm600...I have more but these are the ones I'm currently using =P
only complaint on the 600 is it's difficult to pull off crab scratches
dmc only use technic ex1200s

Wouldnt get that mixer if i was you. i had a cheap numark mixer before my Ecler and i wouldnt recomend one to anybody.

I'd personally go for to single CDJ's rather than a dual CD player.
Main reason being... it's more like what the clubs have, so it's a set-up you'd be used to.

1. Battle mixers are thinner, as previously mentioned - but not always.
One of the differences is the crossfader/fader/EQ curves - usually they are sharper in battle mixers since they are made for scratching
2. already answered pretty well
3. They're "Close cup/ear" - that means they don't let sound out or into the headphone cup. This allows the user to hear properly in a club...the disadvantage is that it doesn't reproduce sound as accurately as "Open Cup/ear" designs found on studio headphones.

What do you mean by power sockets...if you mean in the wall for electricity - don't base your choice on that!
You can always just get a power bar which gives you 8 sockets.
5. I have a Vestax PCV-275
the EQ curve is different from most mixers...takes some getting used to but once you've got it it is much for accurate for EQing.
The only con I can see is that the Xfader has a little dip in the middle (I don't really use the Xfader anyways so it doesn't bother me)
There are sooo many pros: amazing EQ, quality construction, amazing sound quality, everything on it is steel - knobs and all, etc.
