I reckon just experiment with different sounds, see what works/sounds best. Most stuff with djin is liek that just try try try try try...

The book 'How to dj (properly)' is the best book around and has a section on scratching.

there are several videos and books out there on it...of which I've used none =P

just experiment, watch people who can scratch and try mimicing them. it's really difficult to grasp what's going on at first but eventually you should get it.

just remember it's in the crossfader that you should be doing most of the work. a lot of people seem to think all of the work is in the record. your record hand should be just pushing and dragging the sample.

I spent several weeks with a spare mixer in my lap trying to perfect a 4 finger crab, it's a pain but the end result is nice

any chance I can listen to a sample of that?
as for me,the way I developed my scratching was trying to mimic what I was doing with the whistle at raves.then I saw the scratch vid from sy and that helped quite a bit.still not at where I want to be though.if you've ever heard the intro on Sy's bit on united dance vol.6, now that's how I want to make my scratch talk!
