Check to see if your computer recognizes your burner. What program are you using?

Most CD burners come with free software... Mine came with a light version of Nero.

Nero is the only thing I use to record anything to CD/DVD now. I record promos to CDs, mixes (with cue sheets) to CDs, and loads of files for DVD. I've not had one problem with Nero so I suggest looking into that. It's worth the money.
