yea,ok so probably most people already understand this...but for the bennifit of me and other numpties.
as in most music...i follow as far as:
intro = bar 1-8. fill on bar 4(extra kick etc). mores significant fill on bar 8
etc etc etc.....
the layout stumps me man.
im aware the rules can and are sometimes broken...
but could someone be a mate and post a general 'how to' of a tunes general layout so a can start finishing things i start loll.
cheers

Rules are made to be broken! Toomuch of the same thing makes a tune formulaic
However.... generally:
Intro : Breakdown : build up again : second breakdown : outro

Yeah dont do what every1 else is doin, do ur own thing, if its sound s good great, if it dont change it!, but basically its:
intro - build up - maintaided build up - breakdown - maintaintained build up again - second breakdown (incorperating the first breakdown normally) - maintained build up - outro,
but try expermenting and ull soon ave the best hardcore track ;)
keep it hardcore!

no, each of the sections would be more than 8 bars, but each
*edit* my original post got cut off and I didn't realise, sorry (any idea why this happens Silver?)
Errrm, can't remember what I wrote now, sorry but it was quite long lol. I;ll try
Each section would be longer than 8 bars. Each MEASURE would be 8 bars (a measure is like a phrase, or mini section) with a fill of some sort at the end of each measure. As posted below, the intro would be like 32 or 64 bars in total (notice its a multiple of 8 ;-) ) Build your tracks around 8 bar measures, but other than that just take the track where you feel it should go. It doesn't have to have a breakdown in it. All I guess that does help is some sort of intro and outro that would help the DJ, but any DJ worth his salt can mix in anything even if it doesn't start with 8 bars of 4/4 kicks.

8 bars in the normal intro. 32 beats, 8 bars, 2 measures. however you want to put it.

Syphon: Sorry I wasn't paying attention since there was not enough intelligence in the question.

I dont know what the names are but for the purposes of DJin its important to have two sets of 8 bars for the 1st part of the intro, another two sets for the next part (where the drums ect start) and repete this until your 1st breakdown, after each set of 8 bars you have a crash, a small one on the 8th and a large one on the 16th bar - if you stray away from this dj's will find the tracks hard/impossible to mix.
The above pattern should be repeted for the end of the track so tou can mix out. Its what happens inbetween that you can play with but remember if you want to mix the choons or want other dj's to be able to mix the choons ist a good idea to have a good section of sets of 16 bars to give the dj time to get the next record timed up.
Take a couple of choons and play them from the start, count 1 2 3 4, 2 2 3 4, 3 2 3 4, and take note to where the crashes are, it will help u understand.
