jus been listenin to the produciton contest tunes and ive been flooded with inspiration! need to get messin around with producin meself...
So... keyboards... suggestions?
The cheaper the better methinks, but still id like a phat one :)
Also what else would i need that u recommend? eg. comp programs n that... basically the hole kit.
Never done any producin or out b4 as u can probably tell, so any help at all will be spot on :) cheers ppl.

if uv never done production or musicy stuff...stick to software.
keyboard is probably the last thing you need if you dont have software...u can get software to make just about any sound you imagine.
as far as how its done...you need an inviromenty type program in which to create the music (place to lay stuff ((sounds) out).....then you need to get your hands on lots of pluggins. these are the things that make the sounds and you use them through the inviromenty thing.
examples of good stuff be:
- reason: this is like a complete package thing...all your synths,drum machines effects etc are all in the inviroment already. this is cool and pretty simple,but dissadvantage is that i dont believe you are able to add any cool synths you find to it. also heard bad things bout sound quality.
- cubase: this is the boyo...everyone seems to love cubase...its like just a inviromenty hing tho...mibi one synth if ur lucky,dono tho this is meant to be the cats c**t
- fruity loops studio: anyone who doesnt use cubase seems to use this...think it kina is like cubase only a little more simplistic in layout etc.....never played with it tho.
- ableton: this is like all the rest again,only i found it suuuper dooper easy to use,and i stuck with it coz the demo pretty much tells you everything.
far as the plugins go (software synthy thnings)....people actually program free ones themselves and release em...some are pretty kick ass....
there are also the cool expensive ones too.
go to : www.kvraudio.com and sniff about as they have biggest choice of cool software. id check out: claw , crystal , dirtbag , drfusion , karmakiller , lovekiller , neokiller , superwave p8 , synth1 , zodiac6 ........these all be free and kick assss.
couple of cool ones not for the cheap hearted are: vanguard and v-station.
hope this helps.....am completely useless man....i just have all the gear for some stupid reason.
oh,and check out: http://www.nusystems.co.uk/buy.asp?category=MIDI_Keyboards&b=32 thats the only keyboard youd really need iff any...it dont make sounds...still needs software,but just makes playing riffs way easier....jump onto ebay for em tho,can get decent m-audio midi keyboards for like 40 quid sometimes.

Yea a USB keyboard would be sweet...
Im guessin thats the best option?
Any suggestions on which wud be the best to get???

I'll also add to that in that controller keyboards have no sounds of their own.... you use them to "control" other sound sources.... be it software or hardware

Ahh... so u cant do anythin 'extra' with a controller if u do have one, its jus to make things easier?
I jus watched the trailer for Reason 3... it looks tricky lol. its gunna mash my head i get to it.
