Just a passin thought i had, was to perhaps slow down the bpms during breakdown/bridge, and throwing it back in full motion on reprise.
Was wanderin if anyone actually does it, i usually just leave it constant.

Yes I've heard it before, D&G did it in Dougal & Gammer - Don't Go Away. It's not actually changing the bpm, its just time stretching (slower) or time compressing (faster)

Not always.
Most of the time that its used (ie Marc Smith vs Safe n Sound - Identify the Beat) its definately automating the tempo and not timestretching.
Timestretching produces many unwanted artifacts. Even slight ones when tampering with some breaks. Doing a whole track can be painful to listen to.
I know that in fruity loops you can automate the tempo, I dont know about anywhere else.

i know how to do it in both cubase and reason if u wanna hear it being done on one of my tracks go here ( its nintendo )
