I normally dont post new topics. Its just something I do. I sit and lurk and read and read and I post replies, but rarely do I start a topic.
In this case, I felt very compelled.
Reason 3 is the freakin bomb. I finally got my copy today and I have nothing but good things to say about it. The new devices are awesome and the combinator makes life so much easier.
I'd write a fully fledged review, but I love it too much to be unbiased. To all those other Reason users out there get Reason 3. You must. I command you to. You'll thank my for it.
So freakin awesome. I even felt compelled to dance around my house naked and make a video, but the sheer awesomeness of Reason pulled me towards the computer instead.

Phew, that was a close one!!!
Going to be having a play with Reason 3 myself soon..... going to see if it can drag me away from the (never to be updated) version of Logic Audio 5.5 I'm currently slaving over...... or maybe it will join it in joyous rewire harmony. From what I've seen so far it looks promising

Personally, I would use this over Cubase. Because I know Reason better and I'm more comfortable in it and its all internal (no poorly programmed VST's)

Wait till I hit up your town, man. There'll be plenty of nakedness on video. Which reminds me of the next video I'm going to make. I'm going to blow up my car....

Horsecrap. As a seasoned 2.5 user, the upgrades in are most welcome. They are awesome. The combinator and the stereo-izer thingy are freakin |33t. I dont have to do it all manually any more!
scr8tch, in answer to your question, I learn the following programs in this order:
Cool Edit, Acid Pro, Fruity Loops, Cubase, Reason.
Reason is harder to get your head around (at times) but when you understand it, it makes a lots more sense (I reckon) than Cubase. I mean, its virtual studio software with virtual wires! What more could you want? Feedback when you wire something wrong? It in there too

True true. The combi does it for me. But M class thingos are cool.
The other reason why I'm impressed is because I paid for it, not |33ch3d it like my copy of R2.5

I use R2.5 for my stuff. I don't think there really is much else they can add to it to make it that much better. The only thing I want them to do is make Reason VST compatible so people don't have to re-wire it with Cubase or Fruity.

i would be a bit worried using a new programme for producing as I am just getting to grips with reason 2.5, is version 3 available as an upgrade?

Well, its not like you have to learn everything again.
There are just some new features that make things easier. A lot easier.

Glad you like it rygor, I have had my Reason 3 for about a month now, and I've been canning it.
I don't think Reason is difficult to learn, stuff go's wherever you put the cables, there's no complex menus. I find it very inspiring.

one other thing that has improved is the sample load time. have to admit 3.0 has cut down the time of production

Absolutely false.
The Propellerheads have said they will never support VST's in Reason.
Personally, I've learnt to make do without them :)
