i just got the converter to plug my mixer into my laptop so i can record mixes with cool-edit 2.1
when i plug into the laptop, the LED meter on my mixer goes all the way up and it doesn't notice the music when i try to record.....
im plugging into the mic input on the laptop.
any ideas??? please help!

Also make sure that the cool edit mixer / soundcard mixer are st to record from the input required (Line in)

there is no line in, all there is, is a headphone and mic input

Put it in mic for now, and make sure its set to record.
Then get an external soundcard to make it easier with better quality.
Also do me a favour and listen to my track mate (one topic down)

i moved my decks and mixer into the other computer room, i plugged into the line in, and i hear music out of the speakers when i start stuff, but when i try to record with cool edit, it doesn't pick up the music, but it comes out of the speakers

Goto windows mixer and change to record settings and not playing back settings... I would tell you what to press but my PC is in Japanese and I can't read the menus.
it's all hardcore.

Start -> programs -> accessories -> Entertainment -> Volume Control
Then go to options -> properties -> select record -> Check all the boxes, then go for it. :)

check all of them. Now you may have to play around with the recording settings (ie "line in" to get it to sound right
