mixing & track playing time

can anyone tell me why top djs play full tracks on cds but only a couple of minutes when playing live ? im learning 2 dj myself so any tips would be greatful. keeping it alive.

its the other way round is it not, couple of minutes on cd's and full tracks live .. if thats what you mean then i think its just to get more tracks on the cd :S i dunno

I think yr right, im sure i read that they're keeping tunes to 3 or 4 mins on cd's because of the increase in cd dj's.

i hate it when it is like that, i can't stand it cos as soon as i start getting into a song it is pretty much ending

Is it cos you're buying unmixed CD's and your not hearing the end of the tracks when there mixed live??
