~Artist Bio~
DJ SHIMAMURA (DYNASTY RECORDS)
Back when Japan's hardcore scene was still in its days of infancy, DJ Shimamura
turned
heads when he launched his label Dynasty Records. Pumping out an endless string of
analog
releases as well as producing remixes for J-Pop artists, Shimamura has always
stayed one
step ahead, maintaining the image of a true pioneer in the scene as it grew and
developed.
From music for video games to remix work, from analog releases on his own label to
his role
in reknowned dance compilation releases such as "Dancemania SPEED" and "TRANCE
RAVE,"
from DJing to design work, Shimamura has developed his own unique creative realm,
and
from this realm have sprung countless noteworthy achievements.
His productions wth multi-talented artist Sakakibara Yui "Eternal Destiny" and
"Ready Go!"
both achieved record sales in 2005 and 2007 respectively.
Providing remix work for U.K.-based dance music label Nukleuz's compilation
"Hardcore
Adrenaline 3" in 2007 and "Hardcore Nation" in 2008, as well as gaining attention
as a fore-
runner in the hardcore scene in England's music magazine "M8" and having his
tracks
featured in Kutski's "Best 5," Shimamura's first contact beyond Japan's shores was
definitely
an impact which sent shockwaves reverberating across the globe.
2008 saw him make his first visit to the U.K. for a performance at London's "HAPPY
NATION"
party. During his 2 week stay, he soaked up as much from the scene as he could,
and as the
fresh new ideas he gained continued to ripen and fuel his creativity, he released
his first full-
length album "SX" in August of 2009. This release became the first album by a
Japanese artist
to be featured on Kutski's show on BBC Radio 1, and experienced heavy rotation for
3 weeks,
gaining support from around the world.
Later, in March 2010, he released "DJ SHIMAMURA: ESSENTIAL WORKS," an album which
focuses on his works as a composer of video game theme songs. August of the same
year
also saw the release of "TRAX," an album totally focused on serving one very
specific
purpose: To rock the dancefloor!
